Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville has proven his support for Israel through a number of bills and speeches for the right price from Israeli lobby groups. Toxic Tommy is among the politicians that provided Israel with $14.3 billion of U.S. tax dollars to be spent on military aid through the Israel Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2023. Toxic Tommy also cosponsored the Emergency Resupply for IRON DOME Act of 2023, which authorizes the Executive Branch to stop funds designated as humanitarian aid in Gaza and to be used instead to fortify Israel’s Iron Dome. The siege on Gaza has intensified since 2023, leaving over 2 million Palestinian civilians without access to resources needed for basic human survival.
Representative Tuberville has continued the legacy of senators that have sponsored similar bills in the past to block aid from entering Gaza. To make matters worse, Tommy had also signed on to legislation to cut U.S. funds to designated United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), one of the few operating humanitarian organizations in Gaza. Tommy justified his cruelty by spreading misinformation about the organization by stating, “UNRWA schools have been used to store Hamas weapons and promote anti-Semitic education in their textbooks.” This has never been proven to be true.
