Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota has long been a vocal supporter of Israel, a position that has been significantly influenced by the $731,132 she has received from AIPAC. Her close relationship with the Israel lobby is evident from her frequent participation in AIPAC events, including a 2018 conference where she was introduced as a "champion of the U.S./Israel Alliance." Klobuchar has consistently pledged her unwavering support for Israel, once recounting a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he humorously compared himself to her constituents in Minnesota. This connection, however, raises serious concerns, as her support for Israel's policies often comes at the expense of Palestinian lives and rights. As of August 2024, the death toll in Gaza has reached nearly 40,000 civilians, including 16,500 children. According to Lancet, it is projected that 180,000 Gazans will die due to the ongoing genocide.

Klobuchar's legislative actions further underscore her alignment with pro-Israel interests. She voted for the Strengthening of Israel-U.S. Alliance Act, which provided $3.8 billion in unconditional military aid to Israel, and supported the decision to cut funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), despite the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza. This decision contributed to the famine that has plagued Gaza, exacerbating the suffering of its people. Additionally, Klobuchar has been a staunch opponent of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, claiming it harms the prospects of a two-state solution, even as Israeli settlements continue to expand illegally. She also supported legislation objecting to UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which declared that Israel’s settlements have no legal validity.

In November 2023, amid protests organized by Jewish Voice for Peace Twin Cities, Klobuchar was urged to call for an immediate suspension of Israel's military actions in Gaza. At that time, over 11,000 Palestinian civilians had already been killed in Israeli airstrikes, with thousands more buried under rubble. However, Klobuchar has remained steadfast in her support for Israel, even as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens. Her alignment with AIPAC and unwavering support for Israel's military actions, despite the devastating toll on Palestinian civilians, reveals a troubling disconnect between her professed values and the realities on the ground.
