Senator Joni Ernst, a Republican from Iowa, has been a staunch supporter of Israel, receiving over $517,608 from AIPAC to fund her political campaigns. This financial backing has undeniably influenced her consistent pro-Israel, anti-Palestine stance, as evidenced by her votes in favor of sending $3.8 billion in unconditional military aid to Israel, even as the country continues its genocidal campaign in Gaza. Ernst also voted to cut U.S. federal funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), one of the few humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza, where civilians are facing famine, disease, and a lack of basic necessities like healthcare and education. The death toll in Gaza is staggering, with Lancet projecting that 180,000 Gazans will die as a result of this ongoing genocide and Senator Ernst is funding it all.
Ernst has made numerous speeches in support for Israel. During her visit to Israel in October 2023, amidst a genocidal campaign that had already claimed thousands of Palestinian lives, Ernst declared, "In unity, our bipartisan delegation pressed on, and on October 10, we arrived in Israel to ensure our ally clearly understood that America will always stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her." This statement reflects her disregard thye suffering of Gazans, prioritizing Israel's security over the lives of innocent Palestinians.
In July 2024, Ernst led 12 of her Senate Republican colleagues in a show of unwavering support for Israel, condemning the Biden Administration for not welcoming war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been leading the genocide in Gaza. Ernst's defense of Netanyahu, despite his authorization of torture centers and the indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas, is deeply troubling. She stated, "As we stand in the Capitol building safe while Israel is fighting for their right to exist and our fellow Americans' lives are quite literally on the line." This rhetoric, paired with her consistent voting record, demonstrates how AIPAC's financial influence has shaped Ernst's pro-Israel and anti-Palestine policies, contributing to the ongoing suffering and death in Gaza.

Israel, the United States will always have your back.”
