Republican Representative Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee is a staunch supporter of Israel, with her unwavering backing bolstered by over half a million dollars—$523,407 to be exact—from AIPAC. This financial support has influenced her voting patterns, as she has consistently backed pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian legislation. Her record paints a clear picture of her prioritization of Israel’s military objectives over the genocide inflicted on Palestinian population.

Blackburn's support for Israel extends to advocating for the continual supply of U.S. taxpayer-funded military assistance. She once proudly stated, “The United States must provide Israel with every available resource — including sending any and all military assistance — to defend itself with overwhelming force against terrorists.” This statement ignores the well-documented devastation in Gaza caused by Israeli bombardments, which have left more than half of Gaza's homes damaged or destroyed, 80% of commercial facilities in ruins, and critical infrastructure—including schools, hospitals, and roads—crippled. Despite these horrors, Blackburn’s priority remains Israel’s military might, disregarding the growing human death toll on Palestinian civilians.

Furthermore, Blackburn’s cruel and inhumane disregard for Gazan refugees is glaringly evident. She joined 34 senators in a letter demanding that the Biden administration prevent Gazan refugees, many of whom are children in need of medical care due to injuries sustained in Israeli airstrikes, from seeking refuge in the U.S. Her reasoning? A baseless claim that these refugees could harbor terrorist sympathies. As she stated, “We must ensure Gazans with terrorist ties or sympathies are denied admission into the United States.” This rhetoric ignores the genocide Gazans are stuck in and amplifies xenophobic fears, branding an entire population as potential threats.

By voting to cut U.S. federal funding to the UNRWA, the organization responsible for delivering life-saving humanitarian aid in Gaza, Blackburn continues to perpetuate the suffering of Palestinians. Her actions and rhetoric, driven by financial support from pro-Israel lobbyists, show a blatant disregard for human rights and a willingness to back Israel’s aggression without question, all while contributing to the genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.
