California Representative Pete Aguilar has proven to be a good friend of Israel and their genocidal project of Palestine. Awful Aguilar has been vocal on the importance of passing the Strengthening the Israel-U.S. Alliance Act, which provides Israel with $3.8 billion to spend on weaponry. This funding aligns with the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Israel, which was established in 2016 and outlines a commitment of $38 billion in military assistance over a ten-year period. Aguilar backed his vote by stating, “Congress must show the rest of the world that our support for the safety and security of the Israeli people will never waver.” Awful Aguilar's support for this bill also shows the world that he approves the continued slaughter of Palestinians and absolute destruction of Gaza, that homes 2 million people.
A month after the Strengthening the Israel-U.S. Alliance Act was passed, on May 26, 2024 the Israeli military launched an air attack on displaced Palestinians in Rafah living in tents. This attack killed 40 Palestinians, including children. Among the victims was 18-month-old Palestinian baby, Ahmad Al-Najar whose head was cut off doing the bombing. Ahamd’s mother and two siblings were also murdered during the attack. Survivors of the air strike recounted the sight stating, “tents were melting and the people’s bodies are also melting.” Aguilar has sold his soul to the highest bidder, and has disregarded human lives in order to keep his AIPAC checks from clearing.
Rep. Aguilar also signed onto the Stop Anti-Semitism on College Campuses Act. This act conflates anti-zionism as anti-semitism in response to university students across the U.S. protesting Israeli’s bombardment of Palestine on college campuses. This act promises to revoke federal education funding designated to colleges and universities if they “peddle antisemitism or authorize, fund or facilitate events that promote violent antisemitism.” Students and constituents in Aguilar's district have held protests at his office in San Bernardino to urge the Representative to call for a ceasefire, which he has refused. This comes to no surprise since Pete Aguilar has taken $679,372 from AIPAC and other Israeli lobby groups.
