CODEPINK Denver-Boulder and Allies Call Out Representative Brittany Pettersen's Allegiance to Israel Over Her Constituents

On the first anniversary of the genocide in Gaza, CODEPINK Denver-Boulder and other Palestine solidarity groups rallied outside Representative Brittany Pettersen's office to protest her support for the Israel-United States genocide in Gaza.

The protest occurred on October 7, 2024, at 550 S. Wadsworth, Lakewood. Organizers called out Rep. Pettersen's complicity in war crimes, highlighting how she had ignored calls to halt U.S. funding for military operations in Gaza.

"It's been one year of genocide, and that means one year of Rep. Pettersen being complicit with war crimes. We will not let this go unnoticed," said a CODEPINK spokesperson.

The latest demonstration was in a series of protests targeting Rep. Pettersen's office over the past year. Despite numerous attempts to engage with the Congresswoman, including meeting requests and phone calls, Petterson deliberately ignores them. CODEPINK organizer Sandie Weathers expressed her frustration, stating, "My calls were not returned, nor were my requests for a meeting granted. I didn't know what else to do, so I organized a protest outside her office."

There is an apparent reason why Brittany Pettersen refuses to listen to her constituents. In fact, there are 149,933 reasons. Rep. Petterson has taken $149,933 from the pro-Israel lobby to regurgitate their talking points and give cover for genocide.

In August 2023, she cemented her relationship with the government of Israel during a six-day AIPAC-sponsored trip where delegates were brainwashed on "a variety of pressing issues, including the effort to prevent Iran from becoming nuclear capable… and the development of the Abraham Accords," according to news media.

In December 2023, Pettersen was one of 95 Democrats who voted for H.Res. 894, the "Anti-Zionism Is Antisemitism" Bill is aimed at crushing any criticism of the Israeli government and giving it free rein to destroy Palestinian lives at an unimaginable scale while it expands its terrorist war throughout the region.

When Israel started expanding its war with Lebanon and Iran in September/October 2024, Brittany Pettersen was quick to tweet her support, showcasing her utter complicity with the Biden/Israeli-led genocide and terrorism in the region.

The rally was held with CD7 Watermelon and Community in Solidarity for Palestine. Organizers demanded that Rep. Pettersen stop supporting policies that directly contribute to the murder of innocent Palestinians and the continuation of violence in the region.
