Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin is a supporter of Israel and their military agenda, but on her website and speeches she often condemns Israel’s recent actions in Gaza. Senator Tammy has earned her nickname Backhand Baldwin due to her insincere concern for Gazans all while signing onto legislation that arms and funds their genocide. Tammy Baldwin posted a statement December 2023 reading, “As I have said before, I support Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas, bring hostages back home, and end the terrorist organization’s threat – but it does not have the right to go to war against innocent Palestinian people.” Just 4 months later, in April 2024, Backhand Baldwin voted in favor of the Strengthening of Israel-U.S. Alliance Act, which provides Israel with $3.8 billion to spend on their genocidal project of Gaza. A week before Baldwin voted on that legislation the CPJ’s (The Committee to Protect Journalists) investigation team uncovered that Israel had killed at least 95 journalists and media workers, including over 34,000 innocent Palestinian civilians dead.
Senator Tammy Baldwin also stated, “Netanyahu government’s indiscriminate bombing and military approach has led to unacceptable bloodshed in Gaza and does not appear to be moving us closer to our ultimate goals of removing Hamas from power and achieving a lasting peace in the region through a two-state solution. Preservation of innocent lives and civilian infrastructure is not just morally right, but also necessary to accomplish security, stability, and peace in the region moving forward.” Again, 3 months later Backhanded Baldwin voted yes to cut funding to UNRWA, one the few humanitarian organizations in the region that has provided direct services to Gazans. Baldwin continued to state, “I support the resumption of a humanitarian ceasefire.” The month prior Backhanded Baldwin did not sign onto Congress’ open letter to demand Joe Biden call for a ceasefire to prevent further human rights violations. Many of Senator Tammy’s constituents in Wisconsin have been protesting her decisions to vote in favor of Pro-Israel bills, proclaiming the Senator has lost their votes in the Novemeber 2024 elections. Senator Tammy Baldwin cannot hide that she takes money from AIPAC, and will ensure their agenda through her voting power.
